On this tour to Bacalar Lagoon, also known as the Lagoon of Seven Colors, we will explore the archaeological site of Chacchoben and Bacalar Lagoon, one of the most impressive natural wonders of the Yucatán Peninsula.
Falling in love with Bacalar is sincere and effortless. Just arrive, see it, and the enchantment is instant and everlasting. As you begin to notice the details, the hidden treasures, and the unique corners, you’ll fall even more in love.
Bacalar, declared a “Pueblo Mágico” (Magical Town), is home to reefs, cenotes, and mangroves, surrounded by jungle and giant stromatolites. Its main attraction is its vast lagoon, stretching over 50 kilometers in length. The varying depths of the lagoon floor, combined with the changing intensity of sunlight, create a stunning diversity of blue and green hues in its waters.

Marvel at Bacalar and its freshwater lagoon adorned with different shades of blue. You’ll discover history and lush nature, with the opportunity to take a boat tour across its crystal-clear waters.
The Bacalar Lagoon is named for the seven different shades of blue visible from any point. This variation in tones is due to the different types of soil, the shallow water levels, and the way sunlight illuminates the lagoon.
In Bacalar, you’ll find the oldest life forms on the planet: stromatolites. The lagoon features calm waters, freshwater cenotes, and much more. The landscape of its seven shades of blue (ranging from turquoise to Prussian blue) is unparalleled and an undeniable reason to fall under its spell.
